Jamaican Villas

We are looking for a six bedroom Villa near (or on) the beach in Jamaica. Our maximum budget for the week is $12,000. Are there parts of the Island where it would be unsafe to stay? Are any areas nicer than others? Does anyone have any specific recommendations?

Take a look at Moon Dance Villas in Negril. Right on the beach!

We need to know more about you. I love Negril, but it's a very laid back place, rustic, and standards may not be what you're used to in other places.

We are in our mid 60s. Looking for a place for a special birthday celebration with our 4 married kids and 3 grandchildren. Would like a lovely house near (preferably on) the beach. We don't care about nearby restaurants or nightlife.

Moon Dance may not be a good fit for you. Lovely property, but it's surrounded by bars, small hotels, even a nudist beach, unless that's been redesignated in the last two years!

Take a peek at The Tryall Club, a community of private homes/beach villas halfway between Montego Bay and Negril.

We visited friends who owned there, and while it's a bit sedate, I think it may offer a better setup for extended family. There's a small beach, golf course, a few restaurants at beach level, a sports club, and- I thik- a kiddie's club, too.

It's definitely not as lively or beautiful as Negril, but the accommodations are probably more what you had in mind, though I don't know if a six bedroom there will fit your budget.

Good luck!

Just wanted to mention that Negril is only about an hour away from Tryall, so it could be a good day trip.

We have capped our budget at $12,000. Tryall looks perfect but all the suitable villas are around $15,000 .

jmv50,

Sorry to hear it, but I'm not surprised! I just checked out virginia's link, and there are some villas in Montego Bay that seem to fit your needs and budget. Just make sure that they won't be too remote for you. Good luck!
