Jamaica in August???
My husband and I are looking at taking a week in August and going to Jamaica. My concern is the weather. I know August is hurricane season, but I'm wondering if this will be much of a concern. We are looking at staying at the Caves. The rates are much lower than at other times of the year, and they are running a fifth night free special. The rooms are not all air conditioned, but I'm not as concerned about that . I hate being in overly air-conditioned places (rarely ever turn it on at home) and from what I understand, there will be a good breeze being up on the cliffs. Has anyone been to Jamaica during this time of year? Are we out of our minds for thinking about this? I am a teacher, so going at another time isn't really a possibility.
Thanks!
Thanks!

It's 'Magic 8 ball time'...weather can be hot and sunny with brief intense
downpours in afternoons or rainy. Late
August to late October is dicier on the tropic storm/hurricane front ,but you never know. Aside from trip/travel/cancellation insurance (http://www.travelguard.com) which doesn't cover you against tropical storms nor hurricanes that DON'T close
down the airports, you have to play
the risk assessment game vs.lower summer prices at The Caves.

Ahhhh, I'm jealous! The Caves is a magical place and I wouldn't hesitate to take a summer trip there. I would suggest requesting butterfy, stardust (the owner's cottage) or go for the AC in sea turtle or Blue dolphin or one drop (very cute ). The above units would be cooler due to their proximity to the ocean. Anyway...go for it. Wish I was going too!!

We were in Negril in August last year. Yes, it was hot. We had mostly great weather. It did rain but it usually was in the afternoon when we had put in several hours on the beach so it was no big deal.
We didn't stay on the cliffs so I can't comment on the breeze there. We were on 7-mile beach and I didn't think the nights were hot like the days.
We loved it. Enjoy your trip.
