Is it possible to do a day trip at St. Barts if staying at the Virgin Islands?

I heard St. Barts is wonderful and would love to see it since I don't know when I'll be that close to it again. Is this possible? I also don't want to break the bank doing it either, would we have to fly? Does anyone know how long it would take?
We also haven't decided where to stay yet, the boyfriend says he has to see St. Thomas and I want to see the Baths. But basically I just want to see the most beautiful parts of both VI's.
