Is it a waste to go to St. Johns during late September?
Was really looking forward to going to St. John late September but all I've read is how it will rain every day and it's the heart of hurricane season. I also heard that many places close during this month.
Is the weather really that bad late september? Will there be any good places still open to dine at?
Thanks in advance.

Nobody can predict the weather. It might be ok, it might not be. It rarely rains every day, unless there is a tropical storm. I went to Grenada during late September and the weather was fantastic, not a single day of rain. I've been going to the Caribbean during hurricane season for many years and so far have never been affected by a hurricane, but there is always a first time. I have heard that places close but have never seen it.

You always take a big risk vacationing in the rainy season. I wouldn't so much worry over a hurricane coming, but if rain will spoil your trip, then I wouldn't head to the islands in September really.

There will be some restaurants closed, but there will be enough open. On the other hand, you will not experience crowds in town or at the beaches... When the weather is nice in September, it is spectacular.

It's always good to go to at john, just get insurance
90% of the time it's scrumptious
Can't predict the weather now for then bit Sahara dust is brutal right now, sky is purplish haze, but it keeps hurricanes away
Water is clam and turquoise and hot!

Were at St. Johns on Oct. 3 -- glorious day in a string of them in the USVI. A little on the humid/hot side on the 1st and 2nd, nicer on 3rd-5th. Didn't cool down much at night on warmer days, but still lovely. Tended to be 8=79-85 around the clock. A few showers threatened one day but vanished eventually as wind changed.
I'm sure that hurricanes CAN happen or that you can get a string of showery days. Would be true anywhere. There's a reason St. J is so lush green!
