Hello Fred,

Les Saintes are a very nice group of islands (with no cars! only scooters). They enjoy a rather dry and hot climate. And they are still home for many iguanas! The atmosphere is great.

Regarding accomodations, you'll have to book in advance as there are not many hotels and these are small units.
Some recommendations :
Auberge des Petits Saints (Les Anacardiers): a nice house (12 rooms) with a nice view and swimming-pool.
Hotel Le Bois-Joli : 20 rooms. The bungalows are the best. The hotel has its own swimming-pool and private beach.
Le Village Creole (bungalows with A/C). Has its own beach.
Le Kananoa - a few rooms with a tiny artificial beach + small swimming-pool.
Restaurant : try the Eldorado in the center of the village.

Regards. Joelle.

Hello again! Sorry I forgot to tell about the how to get there section. You will have to take the boat: I recommend from Pointe-a-Pitre (only one departure at 8 in the morning). You better take the ATE ship (antilles Express) instead of the Brudey Freres company, as ATE has a more efficient service (they are gnerally on time). It takes 50 mn.
To go back to Pointe-a-Pitre, the ship leaves between 4 and 5 PM. to be checked on site.

You can of course fly with Air Guadeloupe (only 10 mn) but the landing in Les Saintes is rough (very windy and shaky). Joelle

Hello! We will be travelling to Terre-de-Haut for Thanksgiving, 21 Nov. to 3 Dec. We are staying at Auberge les Ancardiers des Les Petits Saints. We have a few questions: what is the bungalow like at the hotel? What is there to buy in shops of Bourg? Will we have a double bed or two singles at hotel? Do we have to be fluent in french (je parle francais, but my husband is learning slowly...)? Please send any info you have...Thanks--The Sweigerts.

Hello again. We travelled to Terre-de Haut as planned in November 1997 and loved it so much we are saying NOTHING for fear it will be overrun. Suffice to say it is perfection.
