Hi there-
We went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon and are trying to decide on a 1 year anniversary trip. We loved St. Lucia and think we would love Dominica, but is it worth a separate trip?
Thank you.
If we've been to St. Lucia, is Dominica worth a trip

Absolutely. We just got back from our honeymoon. Can you beat beachfront for $150/night including breakfast? I couldn't. Dominica is more of an eco spot, so don't go unless you're really into hiking, flora and fauna, stunning scenery, and great snorkeling and diving. The best hotel is Castaways in Mero. Jason, the host, is great, as is the staff. Stay in a second floor refurbished suite. Papillote is also great. Again, stay in a suite. Fort Young is very nice, but we didn't stay there. AVOID Picard Beach Cottage Resort. Morons, with the exception of Jeff at the front desk. The restaurant at Picard Beach Cottage Resort is a bad joke, and the staff is sullen and lazy. Still, Dominica is wonderful.
We just got back from Dominica and I cannot imagine a better Caribbean island to visit! The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, the people are friendly and helpful and the food is delicious!
In Roseau, I'd definitely recommend Fort Young Hotel. Standard rooms are USD85 per night and it's very clean with friendly staff.
Enjoy your visit!
I went to Dominica a few years ago and just loved it! I stayed at Zandoli Inn ( I think they have a website and are also on i-escape.com) and just loved it! The owners were friendly and made a mean rum punch, the views were spectacular, it was quiet, the hiking was great etc. they aren't located in town so if you want to get to town you can either rent a car or take the bus which stops about 1 mile from the Inn.
I also stayed at Papillote and, unlike the other poster, was disappointed. The rooms were small, uncomfortable, musty etc and there are several Peacocks that wander around and let off screams at all hours of the day.
