Hyatt Aruba or Cap Juluca?

For a honeymoon where weather and beach are the top 2 priorities, followed closely by various activities
...Any suggestions?...What is the water clarity at both places and what are the beaches like?...Thanks!

I haven't been to either but I've research Cap J. and had a friend who honeymooned in Aruba, and I don't know how you can compare the two! Cap J. and Anguilla are far superior in my opinion.

Aruba is in the mix becasue it has the best chance of good weather...We don't want to take any chance of some of those places getting wrecking by a Hurricane...We are going on Dec 2nd

The Hyatt in Aruba has very small rooms, most with out balconies. I've heard the grounds are very nice but I don't think this resort, much less the rooms, can compare to Cap J. If you like TV in your room, it's only available for viewing tapes and there is a $20 fee each day at Cap.

Tammy, interesting comment re: Hyatt in
Aruba. We were considering Hyatt....did
you stay there? Are the rooms "uncomfortably" small or just small!!??
Are they nicely decorated? Carpets or tiles? Which top-of-the-line hotel wld. you recommend in Aruba? ( We stayed @ Marriott over Christmas & have decided not to go back....very disappointing) Suggestions?

For a top-notch resort and the newest
to boot, consider the Radisson in
Aruba!! I have not stayed there, but
have seen the resort and reports from
guests have been very good! The grounds
there are beautiful and it fronts on
a nice beach. Aruba definitely
has the best weather year round!
To be fair, hurricane season officially
ends November 30. So Cap Juluca would
be ok after that date.
For information and pictures of the
Radisson, go to this website:
www.arubaradisson.com
Hope this helps!
JanGail

You can't even begin to compare Cap and Anguilla to anything on Aruba. Only thing in common is the letter "A." Seriously, they are as different as nite and day! You do know that Aruba had a near miss last year and the year before early December was wiped out with monsoon rains! So, stuff happens everywhere - and we were blown out of Cap by Lenny! I understand that you are concerned, rightfully so, but go with Cap, get trip interruption insurance and IF the worst happens, there are loads of islands that have great places for Plan B!! Aruba is busy, commercial, huge chain American hotels with elbow to elbow properties along a nice beach, loads of familiar American chain fast food places - Outback and places like that - and it feels just like a suburb of any American city except it happens to have a great beach, casinos, "floor shows" and all the trappings! Anguilla is wonderful with no commercialism and just one wonderful beach after another and Cap is just breathtaking!! Since you are technically "out" of hurricane season, you need only be concerned of some very unusual event or that one be so devistating that they can't reopen again (heaven forbid!). With the odds in your favor, head for Anguilla and Cap! You won't be sorry!

Definitely Cap Jaluca. I believe it is considered to be one of the top resorts in the Caribbean, if not the top. It all depends on what you're looking for but Anguilla is a much more exclusive island (than Aruba) with no casinos, high rise hotels or American fast food. And like the others said, hurricane season is over in November. So don't worry about that.

If you do still consider Aruba, you may want to look at the Radisson. We have stayed there twice in the last 6 months and really enjoyed it. Our trip report and Radisson photos are at http://www.arubabound.com

We stayed at the Hyatt Aruba for part of our honeymoon and really like the Radisson better. The guestrooms at the Hyatt are standard run of the mill hotel rooms. As Jan Gail stated, there are only step out balconies. The Radisson's bathrooms are slightly smaller than the Hyatt's but are all marble. If you have any further questions, please feel free to e-mail me.
