HOW TO TRACK - Hurricanes/Tropical Storms
Hello to all Fellow Travellers.
As we are entering the 2003 Hurricane and Tropical Storm season (Bill is already active) there seems to be lots of questions on whether these storms will affect your Caribbean travel plans.
Perhaps one of the best Web sites to get up to date information is the National Hurricane Center.
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/
This site will tell you what storms are active (if any) and all public advisories, forecast advisories, discussions and probabilities are posted.
You can also get Satellite Imagery to see that actual storms, and perhaps the best feature is the "Graphics" section where there are maps/graphics showing the 3-Day and 5-Day Forecast Tracks.
With these Forecast Tracks, plus a little knowledge of geography (or a good atlas) you can easily determine if your vacation island destination has a probability of weather effects from the storm.
Happy travels to everybody and lets hope that none of our favourite destinations are severely affected by these powerful storms.

Thanks for the link!
I've used this site in the past many times for historical data to determine when the Caribbean storms hit and where.
As a result, I've completely stopped going to the Caribbean in late August and early September after having MANY close calls and checking out the archives from NOAA.

Here's another very helpful site: www.stormcarib.com. There is a thing called "how close the storm is" click on that and enter the island, it will give you all the information you need to know! Love this site it has been very helpful, espically the weather postings from people on the islands who post about the current conditions.
