I'm trying to plan a trip to Puerto Rico in May 2013 and am having difficulty with my itinerary. That will be another thread based on the info I get here!
I guess there used to be both flights and a ferry that went between these islands, but the recent information I can find appears to indicate these options are no longer available. Do I have to go back to the mainland to get from one island to the other? If so, what are my options for flights, ferries or both and how long will the full journey take?
Thanks for the help!!!
How to get from Vieques to Culebra or vice versa?

Yes, you have to go via PR on the ferry unless you pay for a private charter.
Use the online timetables for an approximate idea time for the journey. Varies according to which ferry you take!
Thanks Sassy...it seems that the fast ferry to Vieques is running again. Do you know if there is a fast ferry for Culebra? Or do you know about any good private charter companies?
Deb, I've not been to Culebra yet and don't have any info on fast ferries.
I've thought about a charter for a previous trip but it was too late to book. The company I wanted to use was Erin Go Bragh. Take a look at their website.

Did you post your question on Tripadvisor? The PR forum is quite active and helpful.
sassy,
Thanks so much for directing me to the TripAdvisor forum for PR. There I found a link to a site about Culebra that has some great info and a forum as well.

Apparently Air Flamenco will start flights between Culebra and Vieques on December 1st. Woohoo!!!
Deb, that's good news but I wouldn't guarantee they'll still be flying that route in May.
It will depend on demand and also might be seasonal (Winter is high season).
Schedules in the Caribbean can frequently be unreliable so be prepared to go with the flow and/or have back up plans!
You can find the current itinerary for ferries Culebra-Fajardo at our page www.vrbo.com/117982. A similar amount of ships travel to Vieques and both are beautiful sea trips.
Feel free to contacr us to help you plan your vacations.

sassy...just burst my bubble why don't you!
I'll keep that in mind...the part about possible schedule changes. Is the wait for the ferry to Culebra as bad as the wait for the one to Vieques?
