Can anyone who has been to casa del campo let me know how is the beach there? I heard from someone who has been to la Romana that the resort is first class but the beach is not that nice. We really would like to go somewhere with crystal blue water, white sand, the works.
Thanks so much!!!!
How is the beach at casa del campo?

Casa de Campo does not have the nicest beach in that part of the D.R. The beaches are nicer around the area where the Iberostar is.
The beach is nice, but very small and rocky. There was a lot of seaweed when we were there. We stayed there in July, so please feel free to ask questions. If the beach is of primary importance to you, this might not be a great choice. We were there with family; it wasn't our pick, and we weren't crazy about the place.
Just returned from the DR (Punta Cana & Casa De Campo / La Romanna). If you're looking for nice beaches, there is NO question you should go to Punta Cana. The Caribbean is more spectacular in these areas and the sand is white in many of them. The Bavaro area, where most of the hotels are, is beautiful, but the waters are a little more rough (if you have small children). However, the Caribbean side has VERY calm waters. The only choices for the time being on the Caribbean are the Punta Cana Resort and the Tortuga Bay (expensive) hotels. But you really won't go wrong anywhere in the Punta Cana area. All hotels with the exception of Tortuga are all-inclusive. The nicest of the all-inclusives are the Paradisus Palma Real, then the Paradisus Punta Cana, then the Bahia Principe (all Jr suites). Hope this helps! I've been in the DR 8 times now & am quite familiar with most of the areas. Have a great trip & post if you need more info.

I think that you might want to check a website that is called Debbie's Caribbean web site - or Debbie's Dominican Republic. We went to the Sunscape at La Romana last year and loved it. We did see Casa de Campo from the sea and did get into the tourist town made of Cora at Casa De Campo. It was all really great. I have heard that the beach is not the best though. Sunscape has the best beach/ocean/water in La Romana and most likely all of Dominican Republic. They are doing alot of great renovations there and there is a strong "family/friendly staff there" the Iborestar may be a step above them as far as fancyness goes. However Sunscape is really on the best beach/water for swimming - this is due to it being on a bay - the Iborestar and Casa De Campo are really not on a bay. I have heard that Punta cana is beautiful with a beautiful beach but the water leaves alot to be desired - espeicaly if you are into calm water, have small children or love to snorkel. The hotels/All inclusives at Punta Cana make up for this - but if you want calm water and love a vacation full of snorkeling you are out of luck.
Right down the road from Casa de Campo is Sunscape Casa del Mar...with the most gorgeous white sand beach and blue warm caribbean water... We are going back for the 5th timei February.. I absoluely disagree about Punta Cana..it's on the Atlantic, the surf is rough and is not the crystal blue water Many cruise passengers buy excursions to the resort where they have their own area...If you need more info about SCDM please write.. parrotmom@comcast.net
Crackerjack.... did not see your reply...We went to Sunscape The Beach in Punta Cana two years ago...and you just can't compare the beach.. SCD is so far superior...Many renovations done as I write.. the brand new pool, the new buildng and much, much more. Last year as we left Lorenzo told me that day that there were 25% repeaters coming in.. There are so many repeaters like myself that there is a special Fiesta week February 3 to Feb 11... with all sorts of surprises for Fiesta Friends as we are now called...Have b een to many resorts in Costa Rica, Mexico, and the D.R. and our heart is at Sunscape Casa Del Mar.......If yourinterested in their new site please write..parrotmom@comcast.net
