How can I top LI and Eluthera?
Our last two Carribean vacations have been to Eluthera and Long Island. LOVED both. I can't imagine having a better experience but we like to discover new places so can anyone suggest where we should go next? The ONLY thing that could have been better would be snorkeling from shore. We had great snorkeling from boat but just "ok" from shore. We have also been to Grand Cayman, St John and Vieques. We have enjoyed each but the deserted beaches in the Bahamas are our favorite. Thanks for any suggestions.

The only way to top an Out Island experience is another Out Island, IMHO. Try the Exumas or Cat Island. Even so, you'll find yourself comparing one to the other.
For me, the only other way is to do a completely different island experience. I alternate among the Bahamas Out Islands, the Spanish Virgins (as you have done, with Vieques, except we sail), and Nevis. Nevis is completely different -- lush, hilly, green, genteel -- and yet still has that friendly, laid-back and somewhat secluded vibe.

Exumas.
PS. Not the best snorkeling on any except for San Salvador (club med) or Andros
But in my humble opinion Exumas are the best of them all--
Try Staniel Cay where you can swim with sharks anyway, no need to snorkel! And swim with pigs too

Agree with the above....only way to top an out islad experience is to go to another out island. Cat is fantastic but you have to like remote. There's less going on than Eleu or LI. If you decide on Cat I would stay on the N end - Shannas Cove Resort. On a drop dead gorgeous beach that goes on forever. In addition there are ice hiking trails to a couple other remote strands from that resort. Lastly, they have a good restaurant that serves pre-fix gourmet dinners (difficult to come by on Cat). Its a small resort so it gets booked up fast.
If you want less remote then Exuma is a good choice. Tropic of cancer beach on Exumas is unreal (even when compared to the best beaches on Eleuthera).
If you haven't visited the BVIs they may be a good alternative. Our favorite BVI is Virgin Gorda. In my opinion, more quaint than St John, pitcuresque with good beaches. I think you may be able to top the snorkelling exp although you won't find miles and miles of remote stands like you would in the out islands ...

Thanks for suggestions. I will start reading up on other Out Islands.
Mnag- We love remote. We are happy with a pbj sandwich on a beautiful beach. From shore snorkeling and we are in heaven.
Is there from shore snorkeling on Virgin Gorda similar to St John? We loved the snorkeling on St John.
Thanks

We are not big snorkellers so can't opine on that aspect as it relates to Cat. I would go on the trip advisor forum and pose the qns.
I do know there is good snorkelling from shore off Mahoe Bay on VG but not sure about other beaches around the island.
