Hotel Oloffson - my that brought back memories. I can't remember how may years it has been since we were there. Baby Doc was still in power then and it was a fun enclave in Port Au Prince. I wonder who is running it now - that sounds like a song title. If you are going to Haiti anyway, by all means try it out. The rooms are a rattan experience. The hotel grounds are walled and should be relatively safe. The food in Haiti follows the French tradition. It is the only thing of value that they left there. As a result, the food should be as good as you will find in Haiti. About room conditions, that is a reasonable question. However, the Oloffson was never what you call a luxury resort. If was a place to go to be free from prying eyes. Activities inside the walled area are limited. There may still be a small pool and an active bar in the evening. You are on your own as far as in room activites go. I hope this helps a little as I am not certain that you will get many useful responses.
