Hotel Advice for 3 couples--June 2010

Hi All,

This will be a 1st trip for all of us to T&C. We are 3 couples in our 30's and we want some luxury with a nice pool (I know the beach & ocean are great, but we have to please everyone). One of the couples needs activities to do during the day b/c they don't like to sit for long periods of time. The other 2 couples are perfectly happy sitting on the beach/by the pool with a good book/magazine or people watching for long periods. We are looking at going in mid-June 2010.

We are considering Beaches for the activities & ease, but we also don't want to be over run with children since none of us have any (nothing against them, its just the majority of us want peace & quiet/relaxation). Any comments on this place for people w/o children would be welcomed.

A few weeks ago I found another place that most of the reviews suggested not bringing your children to b/c they would be bored. I did not save the name of the place and I could kick myself now. It was a smaller place that included some water activities & breakfast in the room rate and had 1 and 2 bedroom suites (possibly 3 as well, but can't remember). The restaurant that was opened for breakfast also served lunch, but was closed for dinner. The owner took you out on a boat himself. All the reviews raved about the owners. Can anyone help me with the name of this place? I would definitely know it in a photo.

We are also looking at VRBO for 3 bedroom rental's, but want to evaluate all options that meet our requirements.

Any other suggestions would be very welcomed.

Thanks for any & all help!

Nancy

Beaches resort in June will be tons of families..ugh
As far as where to stay ...on Grace Bay would be best, walk to many dining options, bars etc. Check out The Somerset www.thesomerset.com I'd look at a 3 bedroom Estate Villa, OMG just stunning!! Breakfast is included, all water sports, walk to snorkel etc. From the Somerset -many dining options nearby PLUS 2 great pools that overloook the beach, 2 restaurants on site. Wonderful staff!

Check out www.oceanclubresorts.com Ocean club West sounds like it will fit the bill. We'll be going thre for the 3rd time in March. Or try www.royalwestindies.com

Don't know of the resort you're trying to find, but it sounds interesting.

Just wanted to comment on Beaches. If you want to spend your relaxing vacation in a day care center than that's the place for you. Ie.; Avoid like the plague.

I agree with Somerset. I also like the Alexandria. Very nice pool and directly on Grace Bay. We stayed at the Sibonne and loved the smallness and quaint charm as well as the quite, but their pool is small.

For day activites I would suggest a catamaran snorking cruise and a trip to Middle Caicos.

We booked a 3 bdrm condo at The Regent Grand through VBRO. The owners were great to deal. Grocery shopped to have breakfast and lunch items available. Could walk to several places for dinner. On Grace Bay beach. Guys parasailed one day, snorkle trip both picked us up on the beach at The Regend Grand.

What I like about West Bay Club is this. West Bay Club is on the WIDEST stretch of beach on Grace Bay. The island is so small a guest can get to any restaurant within 10 minutes max - you must know that. Plus guests can walk to Simba, the restaurant at Gansevoort (gee i guess they are in a bad location too, huh?) and the restaurant on the West Bay Club property. The difference is $, privacy, and attitude... Agreed, West Bay Club is not on the same par with this hotel, but Caribzack - don't say there are no official 5 star properties on Turks. Are you not familiar with Amanyara? I only said 5 stars for West Bay Club because it is such a gorgeous place and you get so much bang for your buck. In high season the Somerset charges $600 for a 260-280 sq. ft. garden view room.... In high season the West Bay CLub charges $521 for a 1491 sq. ft. OCEAN FRONT suite. How can you compare? Also, for snorkeling, it is between smiths reef and coral gardens - both within walking distance as well. I like Somerset - I've stayed there, don't get me wrong - but dollar for dollar.....
