horsebackriding in st. lucia

Has anybody ever gone horsebackriding on the beach in St. Lucia? We are going on our honeymoon and thought this would be romantic. Any ideas?

We did the horseback riding thing near Soufrierre. The views were amazing and the staff was friendly. I can't remember which company we went through though-we used the company that stonefield villas recommended (where we stayed). The horses were typical trail horses-all followed each other in a row. Typically I prefer trail rides where you can get out and gallop the horses as we're more experienced riders, but in this case I think the views made up for not being able to run them. The horses seemed to be in okay shape too. It was really beautiful and we had a great time. We didn’t take the horses on the beach-we were high up in the mountains with greaet views of rolling hills and the pitons. Where are you staying? I'm sure your hotel can recommend some companies to go with.

Here are our trip pix if you want to check them out

We are actually staying in a private owned villa up in Cap Estate right near the pigeon national park. I heard great things about it, and we think that's one of the things we really want to do. My fiance doesn't want to do to many excursions though becuase he wants to relax too. I am more highstrung then him, so I want to do everything!!! But, to comprimise, I am picking a few of my favorites.

We only got to the Castries area one day, so I can't comment on excursions that way, but if you do one thing while in St. Lucia, do get down to see the Pitons. They're the landmark of St. Lucia and are really magnificent. (The piton beer is even great!!!) You could plan to do the day at the beach of Jalousie’s hotel (between the pitons) or do dinner at Ladera in the mountains overlooking the pitons (very romantic too). Congratulations and have a great time!
