any other hotel reommendations for a great pool on Nevis?

The pool at Nisbet is very nice as it is right next to the beach. The FS has the nicest pool area overall - more of a resort-style pool (and children's pool) I really like the pool at Montpelier. If you have not looked at Montpelier Plantation as a place to stay I would check into it. It is a wonderful, small and charming place. There pool is normally very quiet and relaxing as guests are out and about to beaches and other places around the island during the day.

If I recall correctly, I think you are traveling with daughters 5 and 10 years old.

I don't think that Nisbet Plantation would be what you're looking for with children.

I agree with MIM that the 4S would be more welcoming and have more to offer for the girls.

I thought you had decided on one of the outer islands in the Bahamas ?

I agree with Mim's input. The pool at Nisbet is a nice size for the resort, and it always looked sparkling clean to me, but I never saw a single person swim in it or sit around it.

The nicest ambience for a pool that I saw was at Montpelier. Smaller than the one at 4S, but very lovely.

ejcrowe's right, hardly anyone ever uses Nisbet's pool (I'm one of the few who've actually done it) although it is a nice size one. The two 4S's pools are without a doubt the biggest and probably the "best" on the island if you are looking for a "resort" type pool. Places like Montpelier, Mount Nevis Hotel or Hermitage have very nice but fairly standard pools. Truth is, other than the 4S's pools (which get a lot of use by the guests) you'll find most pools on Nevis go relatively un-used and that's understandable what with the Caribbean only a short distance away from anyplace on the island.

Sunnyboy - it is interesting about the pools on Nevis. I never have seen anyone in the Nisbet pool. I guess that the sea is more appealing!

BTW are you ever going to tell us who you really are?

To MIM04 - Sorry, unlike Clark Kent, who everyone (except Lois Lane) knew was Superman, I prefer to be known on this forum only by my screen name. It wasn't until recently I even revealed to this forum that I have a home on Nevis (before that I just referred to having a home on one of the Leeward Islands).

Okay, now I am confused...should we consider the Nisbet or the Montpelier for our next visit? Sunnyboy, you have not had a comment on my trip report. I hope that I have not disappointed you with my first vision of the great island of Nevis?.... I have so enjoyed your input into the island in preparation for our trip!!

iw - you should consider them both for your next trip. Both Montpelier and Nisbet are much nicer properties than Oualie.

Wow MarionCK, I hoped nobody recognized my name! good memory LOL I continue to island hop and can not make a decision - especially when someone suggest something new to me, it opens up to many doors and I end up looking everywhere all over again

I think we're actually going to postpone until Christmas which will give me some more time, and we won't have to worry about the hurricanes.

To jw - Soprry, I've been travelling a lot for the past 10 days so haven't spent much time visiting or posting on Fodors. I did read your trip report and felt you painted an accurate picture of life at Oualie Beach and your descriptions of the restaurants where you dined ate was also "right on". The chef at Oualie takes great pride in his meals and always makes it a point to spend a few minutes talking to and getting feedback from his guests. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and are planning a return visit. As to whether or not you stay at Nisbet or Montpelier, well that's a difficult choice as they are both very nice places. The main differences, of course, is that Nisbet is larger (38 rooms vs. 10 or 12 at Montpelier) and Nisbet is on the Beach, albiet the Atlantic while Montpelier is up on the mountain. For what it is worth, Nisbet's long time managers, Don and Kathy, recently left the island so there is a new management team in place but outwardly everything seems to be exactly the same. On the other hand, Tim & Merideth Hoffman, who own Montpelier, are truly wonderful hosts who know how to pamper their guests. Since you've already visited the island and stayed at Oualie Beach then perhaps the allure of staying at a beachfront resort is no longer a high priority for you, if that's the case I'd opt for Montpelier. One thing you should know is that none of the "cottages" at Nisbet are actually "beachfront" (the closest ones are set back a hundred yards or so from the beach) so that may be a factor in your choice. Either way you won't be disappointed.
