Hi all. I think we have narrowed our honeymoon down to Turks and Caicos (or staying at Hermitage Bay in Antigua) but need some help with finding the right hotel. We will be traveling next August for about 9 or 10 days.

We are considering Parrot Cay but don't necessarily want to be stuck on the island for the 9 nights that we plan on going for. Does anyone know how easy it is to get to the other hotels? Cost?

We are also considering the Gansevoort, The Regent Palms, The Somerset and Grace Bay Club. Does anyone have any recommendations that could help our decision? I'd like to stay clear of kids if possible so if any of these have a ton of kids, I'd love to know.

Just a little background on us: we are a couple out of NY, 35 and 28, love our food and have no problem renting a car and going to different restaurants (in fact, would prefer this).

I've always said a split between Parrot Cay and The Somerset would make my perfect honeymoon! 8-)
I personally would stay 3 nights at Parrot Cay (the minimum) with the rest at Somerset (or even split with Somerset and Gansevoort). Parrot Cay includes the boat transfers coming and going to PC from Provo each way.

I personally would do PC first, as you might be exhausted from the wedding, that way you wind down. Just when you might get a little antsy again you have a plethora of things in Provo, with excursions and restaurants.

On Provo, most of the resorts are on Grace Bay Beach, and all within 15 minutes of each other. The resorts do have different personalities. Regent Palms is probably the most family friendly, so probably the most kids. But overall I've found no resort in Provo except for Beaches overrun anyway. I've always seemed to find them well behaved. Grace Bay Club has an adult only section, with its own adult pool and restaurant.

The Gansevoort is chic and excellent service, and is close to off-the-beach snorkeling. they also have DJs and live bands on the weekends, and big screen TV on the beach bar-really cool.

The Somerset feels like a country club without the pretense--and has the most gorgeous architecture on the island. Somerset is also walking distance to the "hub"-grocery store, small shopping strips and numerous restaurants. Somerset has live music Tuesday nights on the beach and Friday nights on the patio.

Now it also all depends on what category rooms you're looking at. Avoid "lockout" rooms (usually the least expensive) they are parts of largest units, and usually they are noisy--so make sure you're getting rooms with full kitchens (and therefore not just a bedroom locked out) that will also make a difference on what to pick. (this is not the case for Parrot Cay though)

Also, email the resort directly and attention to the manager, to see about getting specials for August that might be to soon to publish.

Check out our trip report and photos. We had a great time in TCI. Grace Bay is one of the finest stretches of sand in the Caribbean. Parrot Cay is definitely more posh, but if you want to stay closer to the action I think Grace Bay Club can be a good alternative. I personally find the beach along Grace Bay Club nicer than that of the Gannsvoort.

Do rent a car for at least a few days to explore the island, especially Taylor and Sopadilla bays. Both really calm little coves. And since August is slow season I am sure you will get some good bargains.

Thanks Blamona and Foodiechan. This is such a tough decision as I want to pick the right hotel for us. If we go with the Grace Bay Club, is there a room category you would suggest?
