Honeymoon help asap please!!!
Looking at a couple of different locations on Tortola and need some help asap. Based on Fodor's posts, I've narrowed it down to Long Bay or Peter Island. Both fit our budget. Any assistance would be appreciated.

First let me say that I've stayed at LBBR twice and I like the place a lot. The fact that their rates are comparable to Peter Is is a sin.
If Peter Is fits your budget and you want very slow and quiet, it's the best choice. Certainly a better appointed resort across the board.
The only downside is that you'll be fundamentally restricted to the resort and it's ammenities. Sorta like death by chocolate.
If you crave variety, Tortola and Long Bay will supply that BUT there will be a big drop off in quality of ammenities.

I hesitate to confuse things further by throwing another resort in the mix (but I'm going to do it anyway): How about Little Dix Bay? The rooms there were recently upgraded; it's very beautiful; and you would have all of Virgin Gorda to keep you occupied. Just a thought.

I think your decision depends on what you plan on doing...if you are looking for an actvie vacation, then perhaps Long Bay or Little Dix are better because, as one of the previous responders noted, there is the rest of the island to explore. I recently returned from a visit to Peter Island in early November. The island is beautiful, especially White Bay a secluded beach on the opposite side of the island with great off-the-beach snorkeling. We went for our honeymoon, so we did a lot of eating, lounging, reading, swimming, snorkeling and overall relaxing. There are, however, many hiking trails which you could tackle and Tortola is an easy 20 minute floating ferry ride away. That being said, I've been to Little Dix, Peter Island Resort and have visited Tortola...however, my favorite is yet another island/resort... Caneel Bay on St. John, the nearby US Virgin Island. The resort (which I believe was recenlty newly renovated) has the most pristine and scenic beaches I've ever experienced, there's a small town nearby with great (and comparatively inexpensive food), there are jeep rentals to explore the island of which 2/3 is a national park...there is even an under water snorkeling "trail". Just food for thought...of the others I suppose I'd choose Peter Island. Good luck!
