Honeymoon Help!!

I need some serious honeymoon help. We are looking to schedule our honeymoon in June this year. We are most interested in staying in a contemporary style, all-inclusive, luxury resort on an island with great beach views. We will be traveling from Denver, CO. Our budget is around $10k for a 7 night stay. While we know all islands will likely have hot and humid weather in the month of June, I am sensitive to the fact that my fiancé doesn't love super hot weather. What is the best island and resort for us? Or should we look at other destinations? Help!

Just an FYI........June will be hot in ALL of the Caribbean. If your fiance doesn't love hot weather....I wish you luck.

Your budget is quite large, and you should have zero issues finding something high end, but finding something that isn't hot in June? Yikes!! LOL

I was also going to add something about the heat. I grew up in Miami, and I was shocked the first time I went to the Caribbean in June. It's seriously hot. I think the key is to stay out of the sun from noon to about 3PM. Have a morning trip, then lunch and a siesta midday. If swimming pools do not have good circulation with cooler water, then they don't really offer much relief.

We were in the Grand Cayman in June and it was very hot, but the worst was the humidity and I think that is what the poster is trying to avoid. Some islands and some years are going to be more humid than others.

Aruba has a constant wind and while it is hot, it is a drier heat. Just when it starts to feel humid, the wind blows. It never felt humid to me in Aruba.

Bermuda is one of my favorite islands and it is very pretty. It can be humid but I have been there in May, June, and October and never found it to be too humid. Their high season is the summer and it is just such a pretty island.

You could always go north to Canada, Lake Louise type of vacation and relax with less hot and humid honeymoon. Or possibly go Maine and eat lobsters and stay in a nice resort on the ocean. Ocean will be too cold to swim probably, but I doubt it will be too hot or humid there.

Everywhere in the Caribbean will be hot. But islands that have the tradewinds will be less humid.

Let me try to put things in perspective: When talking temperature the term "hot" is relative. The reality is during June in the Caribbean you can expect daytime temps to be in the mid-to-high 80's F. with occasional brief forays into the low 90's F. Breezes die down, humidity increases and the sun is "strong" making it feel warmer that it actually is. Generally speaking, there is only a few degree difference in average temperatures between the northernmost islands and southernmost islands.

So what this means is Courios1R has to decide if her fiancé can tolerate those temperatures. If so, a jCaribbean Honeymoon will be in the cards. If not, then she has to look elsewhere.

So Courious1R tell us if you are willing to go to the Caribbean in June? If so we can help you find an island and resort that will meet your expectations but it would help if you also told us what type of island experience you are seeking - give us a list of 5 to 10 things you most want. That will help us narrow down your choices.

I complete agree. I know it is going to be hot, but Was really hoping for a beach honeymoon. Sadly, I am truly nervous that my fiancé is going to miserable. Since he doesn't care for beach vacations in the summer months, I worry that he might hate our honeymoon. With that being said, I have heard that St. John's might be a couple of degrees cooler than some islands. Is that true? If not, where else might you suggest we visit? I expect that much of our vacation will be spent relaxing, taking part in all the resort amenities, including a day or two at the spa, some beach activities, trying new food and wine and some shopping. We may venture out a bit on a tour, but much of our time will be spent simply enjoying the week together. Help!

How about Bermuda as a compromise? Probably not as hot as Caribbean but still beachy and semi-tropical, lovely water, shopping, restaurants, etc.

<<...I have heard that St. John's might be a couple of degrees cooler than some islands. Is that true?...>>

Not really, because it is somewhat north it may be 1 or 2 degrees cooler than the more southern islands (as I explained above) but you are unlikely to feel any significant difference. Remember, we are taking averages here - at any given time it can be hotter or cooler, but again only by a few degrees.

Quite frankly, if your fiancé " doesn't care for beach vacations in the summer months" the Caribbean isn't going to be your best choice for a honeymoon (anytime during the year). I'm no psychiatrist or marriage counselor but I don't think it's wise starting out your married life by going on a honeymoon to a destination where one of you isn't going to be comfortable. You want to create dreamlike lasting memories not a nightmare.

Why don't you plan a trip to Paris? It is one of the most incredibly romantic cities in the entire world - a perfect place for a couple in love to begin sharing their life together. Great food, fantastic wines, wonderful restaurants, lots of history and culture.. Best of all you'll be sharing it with someone you love. If not Paris, try Rome - it too can be very romantic.
