Home from Iraq vacation

My husband and I have decided to go on a BIG vacation once he returns from Iraq. We have been looking strongly into Sandals in Antigua. Just wondering if there is any location that people would recommend.
We prefer All Inclusive, and we want a spa on location. We are looking to rekindle marriage after being separated for over a year. We are around 40 years old, so we like a bit of a nightlife but not ALL NIGHT. We want to be spoiled. Please any assistance would help.

I don't really have any suggestions (having only been to St. John USVI), but I wanted to thank your husband and your family for his service.

From the title of the thread, I was expecting a trip report from your vacation in Iraq. That would have been an interesting report! Sorry can't help you with your questions but second wliwl's thoughts.

You deserve to be spoiled. Thank you for your sacrifices and service to our country. Have a wonderful time on your well earned holiday.

I hope someone expert in Sandals and AIs will stop in soon to offer you some help.

I went to Sandals Antigua a few years ago and LOVED it. You can stay in a rondoval with your own little pool - or stay in the meditterean(sp) village - it's very nice. The beach is really nice too. I liked this all inclusive. If you have any specific questions about this resort, let me know. And a big thank you to your husband for his service - please thank him for the freedom I enjoy every day. And thanks to you for your sacrafice. All the best to you both.

Thank you! BellaClaire not sure how to message you. ha ha. We are looking into January/February timeframe...and I was looking into Punta Cana also. My question is...Sandals is WAY MORE expensive than some of the other locations and hotels. So wanting to make sure it is worth the money. We have no problem spending the money...but just wanting to make sure it is worth it. Didn't know if any other locations in the Caribbean people would recommend.

We stayed at sandals in Antiqua several years ago it has been expanded since then not sure how it is now we had a good time when we were there but for the price we paid I expected more. Take a look at the Secrets or Excellence resorts they are located in Mexico and Punta Cana they are really great we enjoyed them more than sandals. Good luck and enjoy

I have been looking at Secrets Punta Cana...looks fabulous.

Go to trip advisor you can see the reviews and photos from people who have stayed at the resort. It seems like the resort has two sides excellence adults only - other side called now where kids are allowed not sure if this matters to you. Other excellence and secrets resorts are adults only. We stayed at the excellence in punta cana which was really good.

With the new additions - Mediterrean Village, new pool - Antigua was very nice. I am booked for Majestic Elegance this Feb in Punta Cana - and worried about it. Some of the reviews have been terrible in relation to food... I went to DR a few years back and did not like it...the food, malaria filled mosquitos...yet...the price is right....it's all relative...If you want more upscale AI's - also check out Iberostar Grandes - like in Jamaica or Secrets - my nieces went to the Grande and Wild Orchid in Jamaica and loved it. I tried to go there this upcoming February but the prices were higher.....
