Help!which island Tortola,Anguilla,Nevis?

Jump to last reply

Family of 5, looking for a summer vacation, like to scuba, snorkle and beachcomb. Would like a private home with pool preferrably with access to beach. Not interested in a lot of night life. Good local food and island atmosphere. Also would like rain forest 4 wheel driving terrain. Moderately priced. Travel routes from the States to these islands which one is easier to get to, any help in the decision making process would be great. Wanting this one to be memorable but getting more confused the more we search. Thanks in advance.

Hi! I can fill in some details on Anguilla for you.
The island has probably the best selection of beaches in the Caribbean, soft white sand, about 30 of them in total! We have done some great snorkelling there, off several beaches. We don't dive but have heard it's good....still, better to hear from someone who's actually done it, so someone else will hopefully reply on that. Anguilla is generally considered to be expensive, though if you rent a villa as we do, and do some of your own cooking, it doesn't have to break the bank. Eating out can be pricey, but is truly excellent! The people are warm, friendly and kind.
There is no rain forest on Anguilla.
St. Martin is a 20 minute ferry ride away, and it offers more mountainous terrain. Marigot (the capital of the French side) is very pretty and well worth the visit in our view.
To get to Anguilla, either take air only into St. Martin and ferry or fly across, or fly to Antigua and go by LIAT, or fly to San Juan and go by Eagle.
    Anguilla is delightful!
I hope this helps! I'd be happy to give more details if you'd like....I also know about the other two islands, as we have researched both, and would happily share that info.....but haven't been to either yet....I'm sure it would be better to get info from someone who's visited if you can.
    Good luck!
