I am considering these 2 all-inclusive resorts. Both are rated 4.5-5 stars and are at rock bottom prices but both are new and I can't find anyone that have been there.
Anyone?
Cheers,
J.

Definitely El Senador for me but it depends on what you are looking for in your vacation. El Senador is a Canadian owned report in the Cuba Keys. Absolutely gorgeous beaches and somewhat secluded. You have to cross the causway to get to any towns. Varadaro is much more active with lots of people on the beach and lots of nightnife. The resorts on the Keys do a great job at entertaining you because you have no other choice for nightlife but the offer day trips to almost every city including Havana.
Thanks for the reply. I have been to Varadero before and I find 20 km of beach fantastic and that is why I am
considering LTI. Are yo saying that Cayo Coco has nicer beach than Varadero?
I just found out El Senador is sold out.
Would you recomend another resort there?
J.
The beaches there are perfect in my opinion. But I like to snorkel so it is a little boring. There are several other resorts there that look outstanding (saw them but didn't stay there). There is an Iberostar which I think is the Daquiri and at least one Sol Melia. When we were there (2 years ago) the sol was being re-decorated. It was fairly new and not in need of a reno but just needed to be decorated to meet the standards of the other resorts being built there. We have stayed at the Tryp Cayo Coco and really enjoyed that. One of our best service experiences at an all inclusive.
The beach at Varadero is also great but the in keys you feel like one of a privileged few who have walked that beach.
We already have 2002 and 2003 planned but would love to return (probably to the El Senador) in 2004.
Again, be aware that this is nowhere as busy as Varadaro.
I didn't mention it before because I thought the forums were down but you seem to be able to access the Cuba forums. Go to http://forums.sympatico.ca/WebX?13@68.MweQanuqaXY^1@.ef16d7b
or
www.sympatico.ca, then forums, then travel planner, then sun destinations, then Cuba, the Cayo Coco. This board is unbelievable well attending and Bert and Doreen, the moderators, have stayed at every resort in the keys. They are extremely knowledgable. There is a photo file there too!!
Thanks for the tips XXX. We have decided on Tryp Cayo Coco.
I visited Cayo Coco 2 years ago. The colonial part of the hotel is best and is much more peaceful. The beach there is heaven. However, this year we plan to visit the Melia Cayo Coco. Has anyone been there? Please post replies direct to my email. Thanks
