I stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace. It was great. Don't have kids though. There were alot there. Did not bother me though. Staying at the Palace allows you to visit and use all 5 properties. Which you will want to do. Alot of retaurants to go to. The buffets get old in the Palace after a while. Extremely relaxing. i'm from the NY area. So the service seemed laid back, but then again it is vacation. I spent $35 US the whole 8 days, for a box of Cuban cigars. everything else included. Great place, highly recommend.

We stayed at Bavaro Beach and the best part of that resort complex is that there are five entirely different resorts. You have full access to the others facilities as well as restaurants (only Palace people can eat there). The beaches in Punta Cana are just beautiful, the sand is silky and the coconut trees are everywhere providing shade. To us the Bavaro Beach resort seemed to be more happening. Enjoy!

Marsha, I realized I never really answered your questions. We didn't have our children with us at Bavaro Beach but there were quite a few there. They had programs for the children & we always saw the children dancing on the stage area before the evening show began. The rooms were quite nice with a Caribbean flavor, kept very clean, bathroom was more than adequate, small refrigerator in room, ceramic floors and a balcony with a beach view.
