Help! Need hotel for my parents

I'm trying to book a hotel for my parents (late 60s) in the Bahamas for early Feb. I heard Atlantis is undergoing construction so that's probably not a good choice, although that's what I was planning. Can you please recommend something else that's similar in terms of quality? They enjoy good food, some gambling, shopping, a nice pool and beach. Close to attractions would be great. They like quality hotels and nice accomodations, but I don't want to spend over $400 a night. Thanks!!!

Does it have to be the Bahamas? We went to Atlantis a couple of years ago and would have all they want in one place. I am not sure what construction is like or how much it would impact them.
I am not a big fan of Nassau in the Bahamas. I am sure there are lovely places, but I haven't seen them yet.

Aruba would have gambling and nice hotels and be warm in Feb. I would recommend the Hyatt, Marriott and Radisson in Aruba.

Yes, it has to be the Bahamas b/c the flight is already booked. I'm thinking about British Colonial or Atlantis, despite the construction. Does anyone have any advice on this?

topping for kiki

If you type in Atlantis, there have been some posts commenting on the construction in the past few months. It seems there is a huge amount, but it is not effecting the guests.
I have heard the Hilton is nice.
Good luck.

The British Colonial or the Raddison on Cable Beach would be my suggestion. Compas Point just reopened, but that is pretty far from downtown.

Staying at the BC, they can walk to all the shopping and sites downtown, and staying on Cable Beach, they have a nice pool area, beach, and the jitney to downtown, comes every few mintues all day long.

Also there is a casino on Cable Beach, and the other is at the ATlantis.

They would probably enjoy a walk around the Queens Garden, and also might enjoy the Ardastra Zoo and Garden, an easy jitney ride along East BAy St.

HOpe they have a great time.

Go for the Atlantis in spite of the construction. Your parents will love you!
