Help me convince my husband...

We have the chance to go to Grand Cayman either in July or August of this year ( travel on points, great deal on hotel ). Husband feels that the Caribbean loses some appeal in the summer as we have good weather at home now. Help me to change his mind please! Thanks.

Ha. I know how!

Let him have a gander at the 30% to 50% off of resorts/hotels during summer you'll get for going in the off season.

That usually works!

I don't know where you live, but even in summer I doubt you have crystal clear water, white sand beaches, palm trees, stingrays & tropical fish!

Another thing I do is search the web for the most gorgeous, breathtaking pictures of where I want to go and e-mail links for them to my husband at work - preferably on a rainy Monday!

We have a condo on the North Side, so we spend quite a bit of time on the island. While the month we're there in the winter is delightful, I always gor for 3 weeks in July/August. Yes, it's hot, but the water is perfect for diving and snorkeling. With fewer tourists on the island, the pace is slower and you can interact with the Caymanians. Go for it!

Where do you live? I live in the Mid-Atlantic (Chesapeake Bay area), and while I LOVE summer here (even its attendant heat and humidity), the Caribbean in the summer is much more pleasant than summer here. Yes, its warm, but the trade winds whispering through the swaying palms make it a much more pleasant warmth. No fighting crowds or traffic to get your 12 square feet of beach.

A lot of times, what works for one doesn't for another. But...when we married, my husband never wanted to travel anywhere, anytime. I made reservations to Jamaica - without telling him- and once he started swimming in the ocean, he was hooked! We've been traveling ever since. I admit I am married to the greatest guy in the world, and he went with the flow. Is there a chance that if you made reservations to GC that it would work in your case?

The water in the Caribbean -- crystal clear, turquoise and blue/green, cannot compare to anything else in the US. Also, the constant breezes keep you comfortable. The crowds are non-existent. We have beaches almost to ourselves. Although we've always loved going to the beach in the US, once we went to the Caribbean, nothing will ever take it's place. We've tried to find something, but they all fall short. I'm sure once he tried it, he'd be hooked too. Barbados is our favorite.

Go to www.cayman.org and show him the snorkeling trip to Stingray City - you can't do that just anywhere.
