Has Anyone Stayed at or Visited the Coco Reef Hotel in Tobago?
We want to travel somewhere different this time and viewed the Coco Reef Hotel online and it really looks nice. Has anyone visited/stayed at this Resort? Your evaluation would be appreciated.

Hi Linda,

We've been to Tobago three times and have seen the Coco Reef. It is a beautiful resort and is located near the airport and near many other hotels, beaches and night spots. The beach which we saw 5 years ago was small and man made. We have not been on the grounds since then although we were in Tobago in 1999. That area is great if you don't have a car, but it is a bit too commercial for us.
We have stayed at Le Grand Courlan and loved it. It was gorgeous and more conveniently located for us - we enjoy snorkeling, hiking and touring the island. The beach was natural and although we did not spend much time there, there were great views from our room.
Another upscale hotel is the new Hilton. It is on the Atlantic which will be a bit rougher, but again the location is a little more cental.

The Mt. Irvine is older and a little less expensive, but has great service, friendly staff and is located on a golf course just across the street from the ocean.

Beth

Linda: While in Tobago we stayed at Le Grand Courlan but traveled past CocoReef several times. It looked very beautiful, clean, and luxurious. It is very close to town so you would be within walking distance of restaurants, etc. Le Grand Courlan was a short drive from town. It was great; very serene with a nice spa. I would stay there again. The snapper at the SeaHorse was the best I've eaten! Enjoy!

Hi Linda,
the Coco Reef is a nice hotel, too bad they chose to build a wall of rocks around it's best asset, the beach. As a result there is a very small, stagnant "pool" that the hotel faces and which I really don't like at all.

Have no fear though,Store Bay (the rest of the beach that they blocked off) is right next door and Pigeon Point(another popular beach) is minutes away.

I have also been to Le Grand Courland, nice, but I don't like their beach much either, it is golden sand flecked with black and gold). But,the Seahore Inn next door serves GREAT food.

If you do choose Coco Reef, the nightlife in that area is a bit more than you woudl find anywhere else. On the whole, Tobago is not much of a party Island. For a nice bar try Bonkers at Toucan Inn (great food too by the way), there is a small disco at Sandy Point Village,a local disco nearby at GOlden Star and The Lush and a notoriously famous bar called Copra Tray not too far away in the area of LowlAnds.

For the Piaon Bar atmosphere try HIlton Tobago, GREAT hotel....very uspcale...but guess what, I don't like their beach either!Too many waves.

The best beaches in Tobago are the hidden ones that you have to go out an explore, like Pirates Bay in Cahrlotteville......
