Harbor Nights Hamilton Bermuda
In the past, we have enjoyed the performances of Harbor Nights on Wednesdays in Hamilton, Bermuda. This year, we are again bringing senior citizens and would prefer to time our arrival on Front Street closer to the time when the military band (tattoo?) performs, rather than the start of all the performances. It seems that the tattoo might be closer to 9 p.m., but the website seems vague about that, i.e. that they might not even perform in August during Harbor Nights.
Any information would be appreciated. (Yes, we know it gets crowded, and plan a restaurant reservation that night and then walk to the area. Dining towards 9 p.m. at one of the restaurants with a balcony on Front STreet probably won't work -- that's dining a little too late for the seniors.)

I'd be interested in knowing how long it's been since you've been at Harbor Nights - I haven't seen the military band perform -usually it's a Gombey performance as things kick off at 7pm, then a local band or musician, but not much more than that. I will try to get some more info for you.

We there 3 weeks ago and didn't see the military band at all. I'm sure we would have heard something. We ate at Barracuda and stayed across the harbor. We did heard the local band but that was about all.

Sorry to hijack this post.
Golfer2010:
What did you think of Barracuda? I have a reservation for dinner there in early July.
I'm staying at the Hamilton Princess for 3 nights, and plan to eat dinners at Barracuda, Bolero, and Harbourfront. (I'm thinking of swapping Barracuda for Port of Call because they haven't been responsive to my questions via e-mail.) I'll probably only have time for two lunches, so I've chosen The Pickled Onion and Hog Penny, and I'll probably have to have lunch on the remaining day at Harley's Terrace at the Princess due to time constraints. I chose my restaurants with walking distance in mind - I would rather not take a taxi if I don't have to. I may rent a scooter for a day of sightseeing, but other than that, my plan is to just relax.
Any comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks very much for all the replies. I think this clarifies a lot.
'My husband and I have been to Bermuda the year before last, but did not go to Harbor Nights. I must admit that we're not that into it. It's the senior parents who are particularly interested in the military regiment band performance that we last saw about 5 years ago. If I can recall, this was St. Catherine's REgiment visiting from Canada -- a small band that marched up and down a few times, playing a few "military band type" tunes, etc.
Something similar might be the Bermuda REgiment's performances at different events, e.g. Opening governmental events, beating of the retreat, etc.
..But something tells me nothing like that is going on in August. If anyone hears about a miltary band performance in August, I'd love to hear about it. In the meantime, I just may change our dinner reservations in Hamilton on WEdnesday to avoid the crowds. We're not that big on Goombay bands, and might prefer a quieter dinner.
