Grandmother needs to get away by myself for a while to reflect and relax.. Walk the beach, not have to drive and to be safe. Direct flight from New England and good weather, necessary. Not too expensive. I'm not sure exactly where i want to go.
Grief retreat to walk the beach and not drive

Bermuda would suit your needs if by "good weather" you mean comfortable temperatures for walking the beach, not warm enough to swim in the ocean. It is their off season and there are very few tourists and tons of great deals available. Plus there is are non stops from BOS.
Best wishes to you.
When are you planning to go. Weather depends on the time of year.
assume you're flying from boston.
you could take jet blue to st thomas with stop in san juan, then stay as secret harbour beach resort which has a restaurant & pretty although not terribly long beach with good swimming & snorkeling. all condo style rooms with balcony. very safe place.
delta & usair have nonstop to cancun. take van/taxi to all-inclusive akumalbeachresort.com you can walk down the beach to the small town of akumal to poke around or eat/grab a drink. also has good swimming & snorkeling. loads of other resorts less than an hour from the airport. tulum ruins are close.
jet blue has nonstop to grand cayman. plenty of resorts on famous seven mile beach. the westin in nice. the beach is actually 7 miles long so you can walk to your hearts content.
sll 3 would be warmer than bahamas for the next couple months.
thanks for the info. bermuda holds too many memories and wouldn't be warm enough.
planning to go late february.
will try grand cayman.
thank you all!
You could fly into Cancun and go to one of the many resorts in the Riviera Maya. It will be warm enough and you can find good deals there.
Check out Turks & Caicos (airport code PLS) Great long 12 mile walking beach, very safe, great restaurants & beautiful resorts. Fav is The Somerset www.thesomerset.com
