Grenadines vs. BVI in early summer?
Help Please!<BR>It is difficult to find info on St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Any shared experiences on Canouan, Mustique, Bequia, and the littler islands as well would be most appreciated. We are mid 30's and like uncrowded beaches, some creature comforts, melllow beach bars, minimal European tourists, (don't bother reaming me for that one, it's a preference -- bad memories of rude Europeans on MIA South Beach) and we are having a difficult time deciding between Tortola/Jost/St. John, or the Grenadines. Thank you so much!

Bequia is charming but there isn't a lot there, and if you don't like rude Europeans stay away from Mustique. They were the rudest I have ever seen.<BR><BR>I personally would choose the Grenadines(have sailed from one end to the other twice) over the BVI because of the lack of crowds, the islands are smaller and you can see more on foot and they are farther south and the chances of avoiding an early hurricane are greater.

Hi, <BR> Yes, i am europeon!!!! ,very quiet and polite [i might add].Last year we went around Grenada and the Grenadines,fantastic!!! one of the most beautiful places we have ever been to.The tobago cays are gorgeous.We were there in march,and everywhere was fairly quiet,hardly onyone on the beaches and the weather was very hot and sunny everyday.We went to union island,palm island,mayreou and the cays.I,m sure you would love it there<BR> sue

I'm an American, and I apologize on behalf of so many of my countrymen who crudely insult our European friends and allies. I was in St. Vincent too long ago to be able to offer advice. But nearby Grenada and Tobago are great, but they don't get a lot of American tourists like the northern Caribbean, so you would probably not be happy.

In the early summer, you should be able to find what you seek in either area. Both the BVI and the Grenadines have lots of beaches, many of which are empty at various times of the day (just make sure the cruise ships aren't in ... this applies to the Grenadines as much as the BVI). A wide range of accomodations so that you will be able to meet your requirements for creature comforts. As far as beach bars go, I would give the nod to the BVI, which has some of the best in the islands. The Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke comes to mind, which is not only a great bar, but on a breathtaking beach as well. Most BVI tourists are American/Canadian/British, which the Grenadines (and Grenada in particular) attract a larger international contingent.

We have traveled St. Vincent and the Grenadines for several years. Delightfully laid back and quiet for wonderful getaways. Our favorite resorts are Young Island, Cotton House on Mustique, and PSV. I have written reviews at www.scubamom.com/grenadines/

Have been to the Grenadines - stayed at Petit St. Vincent. Beaches are very quiet and secluded. And very beautiful! Beach huts are scattered and hidden so you don't have someone right next to you. We felt like we had the beach to ourselves. Serve lunch at your hut. Wonderful place - would definately go back! Its a place to enjoy each others company - there is no outside entertainment or evening entertainment. However, the bar had sailers from around the world which made it a very interesting place. We loved it!
