Okay, I've booked airfare, now on to deciding how long on each island. We'll going in early May and staying for 14 nights.
We'll be flying into Barbados and from there catching a plane to Union Island, and then a boat to Mayreau to stay at Saltwhistle Bay Club. We will probably stay there for 4 nights. I picked Saltwhistle Bay Club as it has intrigued me since I saw a brochure from there years ago. Also, Mayreau looks to be about the closest island to the Tobago Cays, making it most convient for day trips.
First, anyone stay at Saltwhistle Bay? Any comments as to good or bad about it, room preference, etc.?
After Mayreau, we'll fly to Bequia for four or five nights there most likely at the Frangipani. Picked there as it generally gets good reviews and I like the fact it is right in the middle of things. I have read that mosquitos can be an issue, but I imagine that could be true in lots of places.
Last, we'll take the ferry to St. Vincent to spend the balance of our vacation at Young Island. This is where we spent our honeymoon and we thought it nice to go back there again. We'll be staying here for five or six nights.
I think splitting up the two weeks between the three islands we'll give us a taste of the three islands, all somewhat differant from the other.
I've done a lot of reading on the islands and will continue to do so. Any input from people who've traveled there would be appreciated.
Thanks,
KathyH

From Mayreau, you can easily do day trips to Tobago Cays, Petit St. Vincent, Canouan, Palm, Union. I'll tell you a secret that makes people giddy:
MOPION a little sand spit off of Petit St. Vincent with 1 umbrella. Of course, the umbrella changes with the tides. Decent snorkeling, gorgeous water, stunning views. It's always featured in pictures with Caribbean Travel and Life and Islands magazines. It's the coolest little spot to stop and spend an hour, with picnic. Of course you still have time to go to 2-3 others and sail around in 1 day.
From Bequia, try a day trip to Mustique, it's gorgeous, and Basil's Bar is really cool. Very upscale.
Suggestion for Bequia: try to stay away from Belmont Harbour to get away from the mosquitos. I stayed at Gingerbread but I'm sure the same is true of Frangipani--the mosquitos are really bad. If you find a place with screens or a breeze you will escape some of the mosquitoes; plus the Belmont area can be noisy until late with the bar bands going strong. It's just not a very peaceful place to stay.
