Grand Cayman in August

My fiance (will be my husband by the time we get to Cayman Islands) are traveling to Cayman Islands in August for 2 weeks. First of all, has anyone been that time of year? What's the weather and islands like then? We are staying at the Ritz the first week and looking to stay in a condo the 2nd week. Where to stay is the question?! We are looking for a beach, somewhat private, but close to dining/entertainment. We'll probably use www.vrbo.com, but not sure where? Should we stay on Grand Cayman or venture to the other 2 islands?

Any and all suggestions are most appreciated!

here's the weather: http://www.wunderground.com/history/...Cayman+Islands
kaibo yacht club condos (here's the 1st one i found, ours was nicer): http://www.vrbo.com/76427
are quite nice. we stayed in a 2br this past spring for a night after renting a house in the area. this is as far away from seven mile as you can get physically and in atmosphere. i think you'd enjoy the change.
another option might be the reef resort on the east end on gc. nice condo's, stuff to do, onsite restaurant/bar. a bit less quiet than kaibo area, although there are more places to eat out in kaibo/rum point area.
you'll need a car for the 2nd week but driving is easy & once you're out of seven mile area few roads so you can't get lost.
kaibo/rum pt and reef resort are both approx 45 mins from seven mile & about 20 mins from each other.

You will love Caymans in August. My husband and I got married 19 years ago on August 3rd and spent the next two weeks in Cayman. We were fortunate enough to stay in a private home owned by a family friend and let me tell you it was like nothing you've ever seen.Too good to be true and something we will never forget. It was hot, hot, hot there is August. Over 90 every day. We didn't mind though...we are from the Midwest. I would suggest looking up condo's on SMB as that will be your best bet to walking to restaurants.

Check out plantana, just down from the Ritz but you will feel privacy! Take repellant for the evenings, it's rainy season but the weather will blow over.

caymanvillas.com for options, south sound is nice so is west bay.

First Off, Congrats!!

I have been to the Caymans now four times and have loved it every time. I agree with the posts above. All though I have not been there in August I have been there in January, May, June and October. The off season or "rainy season" is my favorite and like the above posted I got rained on more during the supposed "dry season" January then I did during May, June, & October. I guess ultimately Mother Nature dictates the weather.

I may have an opportunity for you. My wife and I will not be able to travel to the Caymans this year. We have two graduations, two weddings, another vacation and just too much other stuff going on to afford and have the time to go, which is very sad for us because we just absolutely love the Caymans and especially "The Reef Resort". East End. We have a 1 full bedroom Condo (beachfront) at "The Reef Resort" (www.thereef.com) that we will not be able to use this year. I am looking for someone to use it. Here is my personal e-mail([email protected]) I am also on Facebook (Gus Winter, Quincy, WA.) If interested contact me at either and I can give you more specifics. If you are interested we can work out the details so we both feel safe about making this long distance arrangment.

Again Congrats!!!

In August of 2009, my family stayed at the Villas of the Galleon on Seven Mile Beach. On the right was The Westin Causarina & on the left was the Ritz. I am glad i choose to stay at the villas of the galleon, and cannot wait to return. We booked our villa through HomeAway.com, but vrbo.com also works great too. Make sure you book a villa on the ground floor, because it is a pain in the ass to climb the stairs every time you have to go to the bathroom. The villas of the galleon are situated very close to the beach. My family always checks tripadvisor.com to see actual traveler photos of the hotel or villa you are planning to stay at.

would suggest staying at the Villas of the Galleon on Seven Mile Beach. It is in between the Ritz & The Westin Casarina. This is the best place to stay, as the beach in front of the Ritz gets packed like sardines, with chairs set up in perfect lines. Both the Ritz and the Westin have pools, but they are heated and way to hot, when you can enjoy the crystal clear ocean.
