Grand Cayman car rental vs taxi

We will be staying at the Cobalt Coast hotel and will need transportation to the Turtle Farm one afternoon and the marina on the North Sound area on another afternoon. What should we expect for taxi rates and availability since this is not near the airport or Seven Mile Beach? There will be 4 of us if that makes a difference in the rates. We are a little nervous about renting a car in another country, especially one that drives on the opposite side of the road. We won't need a car the other days but if taking a taxi is going to cost more than a car rental it just makes more sense then we'll rent one.

Thank you in advance for advice!

Cobalt Coast is pretty isolated and has a really mediocre beach. Aren't you going to visit the beach during your trip? Eat out? It's pretty easy to drive in Grand Cayman (aside from the traffic). I'd rent a car for whole time you're there. If you were just (literally) taking 2 taxi rides, then it would be cheaper to do that; the Turtle Farm is very close to Cobalt Coast, though not really within walking distance. But a car rental isn't terribly expensive on Grand Cayman and is well worth the hassle of learning to drive on the left. The car will be identical to one from the U.S.

I'm leaning towards the car rental just for the convenience. We will be with a large group doing scuba diving. Our days are pretty full with the boat trips so there's not much time to do anything else other than the turtle release. Of course, if we had a car I'd be more likely to go exploring

I'd rent a car anyway. You will want to eat, and you may not want to have all your meals at Cobalt Coast. Split between everyone, it's not that expensive per person.

Thank you Doug and I think I'll take your advice and rent the car.
Virginia - I sponsored a turtle through them and will be doing the private release so we are all set there. Thanks for the heads up!
