Grand Cayman Boat Snorkeling Suggestions
We've been to Cayman a few times and have enjoyed a Stingray City snorkel trip with Captain Marvin. This time we would like to try somewhere different. Does anyone have any suggestions on who to use and/or where to go?
We were thinking a half day trip. Also we will have 2 friends of our kids that have never snorkeled before. (We are going to take them "walk in" snorkeling before we do the boat!)
When were were on Provo T & C we used Caicos Dream tours and they were awesome. Boat ride out to snorkel a couple of different stops, stopped at a beach for lunch, really great guys. So we are hoping for something similar.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Look at Red Sail Sports. They offer different sailings other than Sting Ray City.

You can also snorkel from the shore. Cemetery Reef is good but since it is way out I recommend a flotation vest even if you are a good swimmer. You can also snorkel out at Rum Point around the pier or down the shoreline. Even in shallow waters we saw some sting rays and conches.
You can also snorkel out at the reef past Sting Ray Island but you'll have to get a charter for that.

We did a snorkel trip...can't remember name of boat but their office is right across from Westin. Snorkeled at Coral Gardens, Barrier reef then Stingray City. Coral Gardens would be perfect for kids. It is out a ways but very shallow. I thought that trip was better than Caicos Dream Tour trip we did a year later in T&C...could have been our windy conditions or fact that they didn't have enough life perservers for kids or the fact that they forgot my flippers. Anyway, we enjoyed the Grand Cayman Trip. Governors Beach is good but bring a noodle for kids since it is a bit off of the beach. Enjoy

We have been to Grand Cayman at least 10 times and have found the best snorkeling (by far)at Smith's cove. It is easy to miss while driving South along the road below Georgetown as your eye goes to a mansion across the street, and by the time you look back, you missed it. Good Luck.
