Grand Case/airport noise?

My SO and I are considering staying at either the Le Petit Hotel or its sister hotel in Grand Case, but we are worried about the plane traffic? Is it loud or annoying staying in this area?

We have only heard positive remarks about either hotel.

Thank you (in advance) for any input you can provide us!

I flew from Grand Case to Anguilla and back during the middle of the week this past May.

Only small planes land at this very short runway with not much traffic.

At this link:

the 2nd photo down is the Grand Case Airport, view the large picture.

The planes flying into Grand Case are all small - I think the maximum is a 20-seater (I read on another website). Most are prop planes, although there may be a few small (think private) jets. It is not a big commercial airport. It seems to me that they start arriving around 8 in the morning, and I don't ever remember hearing one land after sunset.

I have not stayed at Le Petit, but I can't imagine you'd see or hear them at all unless it is on the flight path in, and given the size of the planes, it shouldn't be much noise at all.

You will hear them at L'Esplanade, but really only for the short amount of time it takes to rev up for takeoff or the brief moment as they fly by for landing. You can see the end of the runway from your hotel balcony, but it's still quite a distance and there is a lot of vegetation to dampen the sound.

By the way, the first time we stayed at L'Esplanade (maybe 8 years ago?), it was the goats bleating for their breakfast in the field below the hotel that woke us up, not the planes coming into L'Esperance airport. But in December, we noticed that the field was completely grown over, and there were no more goats.

My neighbor's yard equipment is more annoying than the planes were at L'Esplanade.

OK, the website that Kool Aid Salesman shows a 42-seater ATR at the airport. So, the website that said it was limited to 20-seat aircraft was incorrect.

Goaway is right, but there are very few. Convenient little airport to get around from if you are on the French side.

We stayed in Grand Case last February, a bit closer than Le Petit Hotel, and we didn't find the small aircraft noise bothersome at all. In fact, I kind of loved watching those little planes coming and going. It was, as far as noise goes, a non-event.

We'll be back in Grand Case this winter, and will be staying at Le Petit Hotel. Can't wait!

If you are concerned for the noise, why not go down the road to Villa Belle Mer - it is great. See http://www.villabellemer.com
it is at orient beach, about a 5 -10 min drive to grand case.

Thank you for all of your posts! They were very helpful. It looks like Grand Case is still at the top of our list!

I stayed in Mount Vernon last November and the planes took off right over my rental unit. This was not a problem and I do not remember any traffic after dark.
