I am still looking for the perfect beach. So far, Playacar Mexico is it but I'm sure that there must be even better in the caribbean. I don't find a beach that is tranquil that much fun; I would rather play in waves the equivalent of Cancun on a yellow flag day. WE were in Cancun a few years back and had black flag (no swimming) for 5 days, so I want less wave action than that.I was hoping that some of you with greater travel experience could give your input. So far I've been to:<BR>Punta Cana- Bavaro Beach- Great but no waves.<BR>Grand Cayman- dido<BR>Jamaica- dido<BR>Is there a place out there with beautiful blue/green water, palm trees, white sand &amp; smaller waves???<BR><BR>Thanks, Judy

Stayed at the Bougainvillea, on the South coast of Barbados, last February. We had great bodysurfing/boogie boarding waves, every day for 9 days. We had a blast. And what I was not used to, was having all the beautiful shades of blue and green, in water with those kinds of waves. Great white, soft, sand beach too.

We just returned from the Costa Linda Resort in Aruba. They had great waves everyday. It is windy so you never feel to hot!<BR>Denise

Obviously, I'd rather calm glass type Caribbean beaches, but if I wanted lots of waves, I would go to Florida's Gulf coast. As far as the islands, well here is a couple of superb beaches with good sized waves...<BR><BR>Crane Beach - Barbados<BR>Horseshoe Beach &amp; Warrick Beach- Bermuda<BR>Half Moon Beach - Antigua<BR>Dorado Beach - Puerto Rico<BR>Orient Beach - St. Martin<BR>Playa Bavaro - Culebra, PR<BR>Atlantic side - Cozumel

Judy, we just returned from the new SuperClubs Breezes in Punta Cana. It's the furthest north along that coast for a very long ways. The next closest resort going north is Sirenis Cocotal and then Secrets Excellence. The reef at SuperClubs is perfect for allowing enough wave action to have excellent boogie boarding days and if you walk a short ways north (within sight) of the resort, the waves get even better. I'm assuming you were at a resort a bit further south along Punta Cana beach because we stayed there two years ago and that stretch is much calmer. My kids loved boogie boarding at SuperClubs Breezes!!! In our two week stay, we had 1/2 with excellent waves and 1/2 with calmer waves. I can't guarantee you great waves each day but just walk a bit north and the waves get bigger and bigger. There's a beautiful long curve in the coastline at that point and it's beautiful to watch the spray off the waves and to play in them. I know from reading reviews that the further north you go, the more waves and some people don't like that. Once you get to Secrets Excellence (about an hour north of SuperClubs), the waves can be quite intense. At SuperClubs, they are about perfect. Bring your own boogie board because you're only allowed one hour per day if you use the resort boogie boards.

Best wave action in Jamaica is to be found at Long Bay, near Port Antonio.

Thanks for all your replies!<BR>I have decided that my next holiday will be an eastern caribbean cruise so does anyone know if there are waves in Nassau and St thomas. I think that I will go to St John while in St thomas because I love snorkeling as much as playing in the waves!<BR>All advice greatly appreciated!<BR><BR>Thanks

Most of the beaches in Bermuda have nice waves - not huge but you can bodysurf and not worry about human bacteria which we found in the cancun area!

Judy, so you decided on St. Thomas, St. John and Nassau... and you want waves?<BR><BR>St. John, for waves - forget it, some of the calmest and nicest beaches in the world.<BR><BR>St. Thomas, try Hull Bay on the north shore near Meagans Bay. Good surfing.<BR><BR>Nassau, I would just go to Paradise Island Cabbage Beach - not big waves but not glass. And check out the Atlantis Hotel.
