just like everywhere else, it depends on your budget. Westin is probably best hotel on island with great location and beach. There are several condos close to Westin that are reasonable - Plantana and Villas of the Galleon. Go to wwww.caymanvacations.com to see what is there. Would not stay too close to town around Treasure Island Resort. Beach is not as good and more crowded.

We stayed @ the Grand Caymanian, located on the north sound. This resort/timeshare is very nice and I believe their rates are $120 per night this time of year. They have their own beach, but it is not suitable for swimming. So we rented a car for our 2 week stay. 7 Mile Beach is only 2 miles away. go to www.grandcaymanian.ky

Check out Aqua Bay resort. We stayed there last year and it was wonderful!! It in a condo directly on the beach with a 1 or 2 bedroom and a full kitchen and living room. The balcony has wonderful views of 7mile beach, pool & Jacuzzi. Cheaper than most hotels and I believe a better deal overall. Can get a good deal during off season. And save some $$ by cooking b'fast & lunch in room. It is very close to Cemetary Reef which I think has the best snorkeling. I hope this helps.

Just got back from Grand Cayman yesterday. I stayed at the Comfort Suites. The hotel is fairly new so our room was very clean, it had a refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffemaker and kitchen sink with utensils. The hotel has free breakfast (cereals and bagels/muffins) this saves on some $$. It also has a nice poolside restaurant. The hotel is a very short walk from the beach and there are plenty of lounge chairs for you to use. There is also Don Fosters dive center on the premises, we rented snorkle equipment from them for $10US. We really enjoyed the hotel, we are not fancy people and do not need luxury accomodations, but we do want something clean and convenient. Hope this helps.

My wife and I just got back on 5-5 and we stayed at the Treasure Island Resort. It is not the cleanest resort and the beach is not suitable for swimming, but it is great for snorkeling. They have 3 nice size pools with beautiful landscaping. They have 3 restaurants that you can dine-in or have room service. The beach gets nicer to the north. We wouldn't stay there again, but it is fine for people who don't sleep much. We did enjoy our stay though, but next time we would probably stay at either the Hyatt or Westin.
