Goat Hill in Jamaica

Jump to last reply

Finally, I think my fingers will cooperate and help me type...although I do long for *spell-check* when I post here.

My trip to Goat Hill was specifically for R and R after my dad's death. I packed 8 novels....bought 4 more in Jamaica and then found a few in the villa that I had not read, for a total of 15 or 16 ;-) !!

Tiverton gave wonderful suggestions for "trampoosing" and I do wish I could say that I did that. My exploration was limited to the West Indian art gallery in
Montego Bay and a wonderful handmade pottery gallery, Alpha Art, on the road to Round Hill.

The villa experience was all that I hoped it would be...peace, privacy and pampering. The staff became my friends and it was important to learn about their families and their everyday life. I received a phone call, on Mother's day, from the cook/head of house and my smile was ear to ear.

OK Golf Guy, this is for you. I write really *rambling* trip reports...but I will try here ;-)

The view is magnificent. Sunrise on one side, sunset on the other.

It is an older property, so the wood shutters are real and the furnishings evoke a more elegant era....simple, yet classic.

The three bedrooms are completely private...equal in size. I think one could even travel with an in-law and be OK here ;-) !

There is a great feeling of outdoor living (which was very important to me ) as well as easy access to covered spaces when it rains.

The *flora and fauna* are magnificent. Nothing formal...well-tended, but the feeling was natural and each view a feast for the eyes.

The food was wonderfully prepared and it is great fun to plan some meals and be surprised by others.

As some of you know, I travel alone and have searched, in the last four years, for a place of comfort for a single woman. It seems sometimes that the world is a couple ;-).

Give me my books, a caring staff, some flowers and some beautiful birds....and the WARMTH of Jamaica and her people....yes I'll be happy :-) !

Marion
