Getting from Montego Bay Airport to Negril -- options?
What are the options for getting from MoBay Airport to Negril? We were in Jamaica last year and our hotel arranged for a car service -- about $70 each way. Are there other (perhaps less expensive?) options? Is there a flight from MoBay to Negril? I looked on the AirJamaica website -- and the Negril Airport doesn't come up at all!!
All suggestions are apprecitated!
Thanks,
Cindy

Sounds like you are looking for a 15 minute flight to Negril. We have flown

International Airlink to Negril. We have never made reservations ahead of time, but you can on their site.

Cindyrob,
We just returned from our 20th visit to Negril, and if you arrange it privately, it's about $60 each way. I can highly recommend our cab driver, Whitney, who is based in Negril. He can be reached on his cell at:876-844-5650. Really nice guy, very reliable and charming. We used him quite often this trip and enjoyed his company.

Options are:
Public transport/route taxi: about $5 per person but not good if you have any amount of luggage. Just thought I'd mention it but most tourists don't do it, mainly backpackers. Time - depends but I'd say at least 2 hours, more if you have to wait long when you change in Lucea or in MoBay.
Tropical Tours/JUTA bus: $20 per person or $15 per if you book ahead on the JUTA Negril web site. Once the bus is full (enough) it goes....driving time is only 1 1/4 hours but you might wait a bit at the airport.
Private taxi or van: $60-80 (vans usually more) and may be more if you ahve more than 2 people. Negotiable. Takes not much over an hour unless you stop along the way.
Air: Timair flies still I think, the Negril airport is tiny and has no lights so this is only an option for daytime. Most $$ way to go but nice view of JA from the air. 15 mins flying time but you may have to wait for hte plane to fill up and you ahve to get to the plane in MoBay too.
