Fun Ideas for Christmas Eve Family Dinner?

Hello---My family will be staying at the Westin St Maarten during the Christmas holiday. We have one six year old boy. This is our first trip to the island and we are so excited!

We were interested in trying a French restaurant for our Christmas Eve dinner. Doesn't have to be super, super fancy---just great food and a festive atmosphere. Do you suggest traveling to the Anse Marcel area? Or would love any ideas closer to the Westin. Kind thanks.

There are some 400+ restaurants on St. Martin and perhaps 50% serve "French" food. Www need more info from you to make meaningful suggestions.

Sorry, "super, super fancy" isn't really a term that one normally uses to describe restaurants in the Caribbean in general and on St. Martin, in particular. So not wanting something "super, super fancy"doesn't help us narrow down your choices. It would be better if you could give a specific a budget range.

Also, do you realize that Anse Marcel is on the complete opposite side of the island from the Westin? Are you sure you want to travel all that way on Christmas Eve?

For starters, you might want to look at the Restaurant Reviews for St. Martin on TripAdvisor. You can sort by budget, location, etc.

The testaurant on Anse Marcel is absolutely great. We went there several times with kids (last she was 2 and 4 at the times).
They loved eating in some kind of huts (accommodate 6 people at least) and the beach is superb.
Food was delicious.
Not inexpensive but clearly worth it.

I would be worried about driving the steep hills to Anse Marcel in the dark. Have you looked at Grand Case - there are many amazing french restos there.

Especially at Xmas time when the roads are covered in snow.
