Freeport Bahamas Information Please
While in Freeport for our son's wedding we are to host the rehearsal dinner. This will be in late May. We are thinking of a dinner sailing for the group (30 people) and wonder if anyone has done any of the cruises offered in Freeport and can tell us which ones are good and which ones are bad. We would want to be able to have drinks, food, and perhaps music on the cruise.
Also, has anyone used any private tour guides in Freeport for a day trip around the island? We are more than willing to rent a car for a day, but thought if there was a reputable local driver that would spend the day with us and one other couple it might be nice way to see the complete island.
Anyway, any ideas/comments/advice greatly appreciated.
By the way, also would be interested in suggestions for good place on land to have rehearsal dinner if cruise idea is no good. The entire wedding party is staying at Sheraton Lucaya and we could use one of their dining venues but we think maybe we prefer to be off-hotel, either on cruise or at local good dining spot.
Thanks!

Hi, We are planning a trip to Freeport this year and I have found this website and newsgroup very helpful
http://www.grand-bahama.com/
I believe it will be an excellent resource for planning the dinner

Curt- I am sorry I cannot help you, but I would really like to hear what you end up doing and how the wedding turns out. I am considering a wedding there May 2005, and I am dying for some real feedback and/or pictures of weddings. Is their wedding at Our Lucaya, through the wedding coordinators at the hotel?
Thanks for your feedback!

Our Lucaya performs something like 700 weddings per year, at least according to what I've been told. However, their wedding coordinators rarely deliver prompt, efficient service. I don't know if they've expanded the staff or not but as of my last info they had only two wedding coordinators. They DO allow offsite wedding coordinators to make arrangements and use their facilities. My personal recommendation is to contact Janice Treco at [email protected]. I can't personally vouch for her service since I've been married longer than she is old, but ALL reports I've ever heard are that she is outstanding. I honestly must tell you I know her but think this is an honest assessment of her work from many couples, plenty of whom she's helped after other not-so-good coordinators hosed up the works and she stepped in. You can also contact her through a link on my amateur web site at www.fortunecity.com/oasis/bahia/443/index.htm. If you decide to contact her mention my name and you may be pleasantly surprised. You can also see many pictures of the Our Lucaya resort on the web site, and several of the wedding gazebo, Great Lawn where they hold receptions, and the Pavilion, where they hold the weddings/receptions in case of inclement weather. Hope this helps.
