Flamboyant vs Grand Beach

Jump to last reply

Thinking of going to Grenada,(family thinks I am nuts)island looks nice. Looking at Flamboyant or Grand Beach both seem to be in my price range. Want something very close to beach. Heard some FOOD grumbles about GB But other then that it sounds nice. I have not heard anything about Flamboyant.

Any comments would be great!

Grenada is awesome -- your family may think you're nuts now, but when you return with your photos and memories, they'll change their minds.

I've stayed at the Grand Beach Resort. It's wonderfully located right on Grand Anse Beach, has beautiful grounds and a "fantasy" pool. My big (and only) beef is that the rooms are quite ordinary and cookie-cutter (think Holiday Inn with tile floors) and the bathrooms could use some serious updating -- though all is clean and neat. Because I tend to seek more unique lodgings, I would not choose this hotel again (I only stayed here because my favorite, Secret Harbour, was not available). I've also heard the food is not-the-greatest, but you have so many great dining options in Grenada that it doesn't matter.

The Flamboyant is also on Grand Anse Beach, but is at the southern end of the beach, on a high bluff overlooking it. It's a steep hike down many steps to get to the beach. But it's also a short walk to lovely Morne Rouge Beach from the Flamboyant. I haven't stayed here, but have had a nice dinner.

There are lots of unique places to stay on Grenada, many costing less than these two. Depending on your interests, you should have no problem finding a place that meets your requirements and your budget. Check out www.grenadaexplorer.com for lots more info.

My partner and I are looking at Grenada for our next Caribbean vacation, and right now we're thinking about breaking our stay between 2 places. Since we spent a lot of money on our wedding and honeymoon this year, we are interested in being conservative for our next trip. We're looking at Blue Horizons, which is a sister property of and across the street from Spice Island Beach Resort. Their restaurant is top rated, plus you get a large cottage-style room and access to the all of the watersports and beach chairs of Spice Island.

We're also looking at Twelve Degrees North, which is a combo between villa and hotel accommodations. You get your own cottage with kitchen, and a woman who cooks breakfast and lunch for you. For dinner, you're on your own. The property has a pool and a beach and it quite secluded. They discourage children, and from I read, I think most kids would be bored there anyway.

So, if you're thinking of going to Grenada but don't want to be extravegant, these are two places to consider.
