First Trip to Curacao- Superclubs Breezes

Jump to last reply

Hi! We are going to be making our first visit to Curacao this August, the 19th through the 23rd and will be staying at Superclubs Breezes resort.

We are curious to others experiences with the Breezes resort, have read many of the trip reports here, and really appreciate all the detailed feedback folks have given.

We do have some questions though, and are hoping someone here can answer.

I had read in some trip reports problems at this resort with local kids "sneaking in" to the resort, or that visiting children on day passes were unruly and unsupervised. Also read that local day-camps had been bringing in large groups of kids and that they were also not supervised well. Has anyone who has stayed at this resort had recent experiences like this? Also read that the local children go back to school aprroxiamately August 8th. Is this still the case? This would pretty much eliminate the problem for us as we will be arriving August 19th. We usually stay at couples-only resorts, and do not want to be overun with kids, but have no problem with kids enjoying their vacation and just having fun either.

We are also certified divers, and are curious about the scuba diving at Breezes. I know that a one tank shore dive is included daily. Is this a guided dive? Are you also able to dive on your own if you are certified and bring your own gear? We will be bringing everything our own except for tanks and weight belts. Has anyone done any of the dives not included, and what would you recommend for additional dives besides the "included" ones? Are additional dives (shore or boat) expensive?

What would you recommend as the best excursions/tours to do while visiting Curacao? We like to get off resort as much as we can, and get a real feel for the people/island we are visiting. We are planning on visiting Hato Caves, going into Willemstaad and possibly the Ostrich farm, Liquor Distillery and Seaquarium. Are there any other "must-sees" that we should visit?

Thanks so much in advance for any help, we will be happy to post a trip report also when we return.
Thanks,
Dee
