Ok - so I have been working on something for a long time..and now it has come together. We are actually booked to fly to Barbados to stay with friends of ours. We are goign to rent a car...any suggestions? We are goign to take days by ourselves - to keep the friendship strong...I have been there several times to visit my friend but my husband has not..
So I ask - Any good car rental agencies you can suggest? Any must see activities or beaches that we can go to on our own with our 11 month old son...? And we would like to take our friends out to an affordable dinner with some panache one night...they have very fabulous and expensive taste so maybe coming armed with a restaurant we want to try in our price range is a better idea...thoughts?
Thanks!
Finally - BARBADOS

Carib_bean,
Stouts is very reliable car rental and has been in business a long time!
Restaurants..."affordable dinner with panache" I guess you might have to stick to the st lawrence gap area...we've eaten at bellinis, pices, cafe del sol, anything around there would be good...carambola or some of the west coast places would probably run you $75-100 per person.
But I'm sure if they live there, they would know better than anyone who just visits occasionally. I would trust their recommendation.
Again, trust your friends recomendation, but the beaches on west coast are probably more suited for 11mo old. You could try snorkeling at Folkstone, but the stairs to get down to the reef are steep at low tide. You might have to hand him/her down to each other. But that's a neat experience for a little one.
We love Barbados and have been many times. Have fun!
Peace, Greenie
Hi. I second the vote for Stoutes Rental Car. http://www.stoutescar.com/MainSite/StoutesCar.html

The best decision I made was to pay the extra $12 per day for the insurance. Had I not done this I would have had to pay a $1000 deductable for damage to our vehicle. My husband misjudged the distance between a parked car on the side of the road and an oncoming bus - he blamed it on the steering wheel being on the wrong / right hand side of the car
