Final details for Bequia, St. Vincent & Grenada

Jump to last reply

Ahh, it's a slow moment at work. I told myself I would hold off until the two-week window, but this is close enough. I'm here to get last minute advice from folks about my upcoming trip in just over two weeks.

Bequia--we'll have 5 nights here at Frangipani. I've already got a day with the Friendship Rose booked. We'd like to check out the turtle sanctuary, Spring Pottery if it's open, and spend time at Princess Margaret Beach & Lower Bay. I suppose we'll do Mac's for a couple of meals, Frangi for the Thursday night party. Any other not to me missed meals?

How long a walk is it from Port Elizabeth to Princess Margaret, both in terms of time and distance?

We'll spend a day in transit on St. VIncent. Right now I'm debating between taking the first ferry over or the one that leaves 9-ish in the morning. A 6:00 or 6:30 departure seems awfully ambitious. If we take the early ferry, we'll take a taxi to the Montreal Gardens. If not, we'll settle for the Botanical Gardens in town. And while away the last few hours over a late lunch and a few Hairouns or rum punches.

We'll then have 9 nights in Grenada, the first week of which will be at a villa. For evening meals, I'm thinking True Blue, Red Crab, Boots, Patrick's, Aquarium, La Belle Creole and/or the Beach House. Lunch will definitely include Nutmeg and possible Tropicana or Tout Bagay. And I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to Fish Friday in Gouyave!

Any places for take-away? Which restaurants have the best desserts? In Grenada, where are the best snorkel spots? Liming spots? Are any spice plantations or factories open now, with most of the nutmeg trees damaged from Ivan? If we can't get to the market on Saturday, what other day(s) would be best to go?

Best rotis?
Best conch?
Best ice cream?
Best calaloo soup?
Best beach bars for hanging out & meeting folks?
Best spot for local food?
Best waterfall or other light hike?

Many thanks to all of you, especially those of you who helped me choose Bequia and Grenada to begin with. At a full two weeks, this will be the longest vacation I'll have had since I was in school and had a long summer vacation. At this point, I can hardly think of anything else. :)
