Ferry from St. Thomas to St. Croix?

I know about the ferry from St. Thomas to St. John, but is there one to St. Croix? Do you catch it at the same dock? Reasonable $$ and reliable? If not, what's the best way to get there?

There is no ferry, it stopped running about 2 years ago (give or take), and no one seems to know if or when it will resume. You choices are to fly via large aircraft from the airport, or taking a seaplane from the harbor. The seaplane is fun and you get a very unique perspective. There are weight restrictions an you have to pay overage on baggage so if you have a lot of luggage, or don't like small planes, this might not be a good option. Take a look at seaborneairlines.com. Seaplane costs about$70 one way.

I think Continental, American and Cape Air (local carrier) have service from St Thomas to St Croix, check their websites.

We just returned from St. Croix and we saw the "Fast Ferry" advertized as going to St. Thomas - only a 75 min. ride. I can't remember the cost - you get the ferry in Gallows Bay just outside of Christensted.

Claudette - There is a fast ferry between St Thomas and St Croix. Visit www.virginislandsfastferry.com for more information.

Claudette, I'd take Seaborne Airlines: http://www.seaborneairlines.com

I believe their motto is "port to port with no airport".
