Ferries from STT to Tortola Beef Island or Virgin Gorda?
I've looked at the various ferry schedules online and it appears that there is no ferry service from STT to either Tortola Beef Island or to Virgin Gorda on Sundays. Is this correct? We are considering a stay at Biras Creek on Virgin Gorda from Sunday to Sunday in late May/early June, and have frequent flier miles to get us as far as either St. Thomas or San Juan, arriving at either around 3pm. Biras can pick us up at Tortola Beef Island (not Road Town or West End). So somehow we need to get from STT or San Juan to either Beef Island or Virgin Gorda, after 3pm on a Sunday. If there are ferries from STT to either, we would probably prefer that; if not then we would probably fly on one of the small planes between San Juan & Beef Island. It is appearing we should do the latter since I cannot find anything about Sunday ferries from STT to Beef Island or Virgin Gorda. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is ferry service both to Tortola and Virgin Gorda on Sundays. The schedules that I have list one ferry on Sunday to Virgin Gorda but you must call for a reservation. I'd call anyway to get the most up to date information
Transportation Services (340) 776-6282 and Inter-Island (340) 776-6597
The following companies run the ferry to Tortola which runs several times daily. Once you're on Tortola you can get taxi to anyplace else on the island.
Native Son (340) 774-8685 and Smith's Ferry (340) 775-7292

The ferry from St. Thomas to Virgin Gorda runs on Thursdays and Sundays and leaves STT at 8am so that is not going to work for you unless you fly in on Saturday and then overnite it on St. Thomas. There is a 5:30 ferry to Tortola but they go first to West End then Roadtown so you'll taxi to the airport (on Beef Island). The better option is to connect with a flight into Beef Island thru San Juan. We would often overnight and arrive early in the day rather than having such a long day of travel with a very late arrival.

Thanks everybody. Do taxis meet the ferries when they arrive at West End & Road Town (in other words, are they just waiting there, or would we need to somehow arrange for one to meet us there?). And do they use a meter, or a set price, or do we negotiate?

Taxis are always waiting at the ferry docks, so you should have no problem getting one. You might have to share. There are no meters but rather set rates depending on the distance. And the fares are per person. For example, it would probably be $$36 for the two of you to go from West End to Beef Island. If you disembark in Road Town, it will be bit less.
