Hello! My first time trying the forum. We are a family of five (2 19 yr olds and a 14 yr old) trying to identify an uncrowded great beach in a safe place. First was thinking Hawaii then US Virgin Islands. Then discovered Cayman Islands. Seven Mile beach looks like the place to be, but we like to be away from the crowds. Is Rum Point too far out? Any suggestions from you veteran travelers? Want beautiful beach but activities for kids too. We've never snorkeled but looks like great fun. Kids would be into waverunners and doing anything else active. All are athletic. It's hard to identify a great place with limited travel experience. Wanting to enjoy each other in a relaxed atmosphere, but super concerned about being safe. Seems like a condo would work better than crowded resort. Traveling over July 4th holiday week. Thanks for any help and recommendations.

Hi familyescape. Welcome!
The next time you post you might want to tag your post with a destination so people who are familiar with where you're interested in going can chime in.
I think Grand Cayman is a good choice for you. It's very safe (one of the safer islands in the Caribbean) and there are a lot of water sports available. It's been a few years since I was there but generally the only crowded parts of the beach are in front of the large hotels. I think as long as you stay away from the Ritz, the Westin, etc. you'll find relatively sparse crowds. There are lots of small condo resorts right on Seven Mile Beach and I agree that would be a good option for you. We stayed at the Westin but the next time we go we'll undoubtedly opt for a condo especially since there's a large, modern, well-stocked grocery store across from Seven Mile Beach.
Since you want to be close to activities I would stay right on Seven Mile Beach. I don't know about snorkeling right off the beach except for directly in front of the Westin and there was definitely some decent snorkeling there. Be sure to take a tour to Stingray City. You'll have plenty of opportunity for up-close and personal encounters with stingrays and good snorkeling as well.
Sorry I can't help with more specifics but as I said it's been a few years since we were there and I'm sure things have changed. If you have specific questions you may want to start a new thread and be sure to tag it Cayman Islands. I'm not quite sure why we haven't been back there since we really did like it. Too many places to go, too little time!
Any of The Out Islands of The Bahamas would be perfect.
There is far more to The Bahamas than Nassau.
