I am cruising to Falmouth, Jamaica in Oct. I have never been there. Aside from the pricey excursions, what is there to do there?

I really didn't think the excursions were all that pricey. If you don't like the what your cruise line is charging, then book with a private operator. We really enjoyed rafting down the Martha Brae. We stayed in Ocho Rios for a week and hired a driver, so I guess that's why I didn't think the price was so bad.
When we were there in December, 2011 they were still building around the cruise ship area. The docking area is fenced off from the rest of the town. Only certain vendors are being allowed within the fenced area to sell their wares. The town of Falmouth is very small. I really don't think there was much to do there beside a little shopping and just walking around.
