Eloping-Good ideas for luxury resort in the caribbean in September 2011?
My fiance and I are eloping in September 2011. We plan to marry at whatever resort we chose, then spend 10+ days. We realize that September is hurricane season in the caribbean and have been pointed to Aruba and Barbados for that reason. Can anyone recommend a luxury resort (prefer few to no children/families) with a beautiful setting to marry and honeymoon?
Or...other location ideas? We aren't interested in Hawaii.

It quite easy to get married on Barbados. Go here for more details: http://www.barbados.org/weddings.htm
If you select this island consider staying at Sandy Lane (www.sandylane.com) - it's an very upscale resort and should fit your needs to a "T". You'll have to check with them to see if they are "open" in September (as many resorts in the Caribbean close during that period).

You should check out these 2 nice resorts in Curacao. One is konwn for being very ´romantic´ and the other is very luxurious and brand new.

www.baoase.com/
They both have really nice reviews and Curacao is a perfect wedding destination.

Barbados is a wonderfully-varied island. You may find Sandy Lane breathtakingly expensive. Take a look at Coral Reef Club.
It is a low-rise plantation style resort on gorgeous grounds on the edge of an underwater park for snorkeling and water sports. Family-owned for nearly 60 years, and the care shows.
Fine restaurant and dine-around privileges with other resorts.

Spice Island Beach Resort or La Luna in Grenada would be great. They're both beachfront. Spice Island is a full-service luxury AI resort, La Luna is a romantic boutique hotel with a restaurant and spa.

I think either Barbados or Curacao would be a good choice. Maybe look at flights to see if that makes a difference? Both islands have nice hotels. Barbados has the nicer beaches but both islands have great dining.

I also go with Josiah´s opinion. Curacao is a nice romantic island. The boaose is really nice. It has this Japanese feeling. The Kura Hulanda is a hotel that feels like a town itself. It has interesting slave history to tell. I´ll tend toward Curacao.
