My wife and I are on a waiting list for an Elder Hostel trip to Cuba in December. I'd like to hear from anyone who's done EH to Cuba. What was it like--food, accomodations, tours, etc? Thanks for your help, Joe

I'm bringing this to the top in the hopes of a response.
Hey Joe:
I'm not at the age yet where I can think about an EH tour or trip, but perhaps you can ask some other type questions that we might be able to answer.
For example, what city are you planning to visit? You might get some general advice on that particular destination but not specific to EH programs.
Here is the URL of another popular Cuba discussion forum and you might try posting your question on this forum as well.

However, I really hope you go and enjoy as much as I have the wonderful experience of this unique island destination.
Steve
Steve, Thanks for the response--I've posted a query on caribline. I'm not sure about the itinerary, beyond Havana and Santiago. Joe
Joe, This past May I spent two weeks in Cuba with a group from my University. It wasn't an Elder Hostel group, it was a class; but it was a thorough trip around the island. We spent time in Havana, Trinidad, Santiago, Baracoa, and Vinales in the Pinar del Rio area. Since we traveled by bus and internal island plane, we saw much more than just the cities mentioned above. The buses used by tourists are excellent and well maintained. The plane should be junked--it was the scariest plane experience I've ever had. I'll be happy to answer any questions that you have. (I could just ramble on and on about my trip, but you're asking specifics about Elder trips.) I am surprised that your trip is still in the works, though. I thought Bush recently put a stop to most trips which weren't diplomatic, educational (University coursework) or family related. Kathy
