drinking the water and traveller's tummy on Grand Cayman
Just wondering about people's experiences with the water on GCI and if the uncooked food (like salads and fruits) is safe. In Cozemel the hotels had filtered water and the restaurants, too (they said). Is this the same in GC? Does one drink the tap water?

I think most people drink the tap water - it is de-sal water and is fine to drink. A few people mention a problem with the taste but I've never experienced a problem. Water flavor can change from town to town. I've eaten from street vendors and always drink tap water and have never had a problem. But I think a lot depends on how your body adjusts to different foods/water.

I was in GC just this past June. I tend to drink water wherever I go when I dine out. I never had any problem with it. Also, I didn't notice a funny taste either. If that is the case, add a lemon to the water and it should take care of it. We didn't experience any problems with the salads and fruit either. Enjoy your trip! I have been to several islands and GC was definitely on the top of my list for favorite destinations!
